Ships in The Andromedan Seige

The Federation ships below were all designed by Chris Fant, <fantc@mindspring.com> . Some were designed using SSD's by Donald Miller as templates (see his SFB Page).

The Andromedan units were all designed by Robert Cole, <Hazx@AOL.com> . Some were also designed using SSD's by Donald Miller as templates.

(R1.?) Federation Ambassador Class Battleships (BB-A): The 1st Ambassador Class BB was completed in Y200 and there has been one built every 5 years thereafter. The ship is capable of being a stand alone ship designed to protect the inner core of the Federation Worlds, as well as searching out survivors of the war still awaiting rescue. The Four ships in existence for this class are The Ambassador, Enterprise-C, Lexington, and Infinity (which is the only carrier varient, there will be no more than one carrier in service at ANY time.) As these are the Flagships of the fleet, they would always have at least 2xDefiant Class DDJ's as well as 2xIntrepid Class FFA's in escort, or an equivilent. This ship does NOT mount the base style Phaser-4 but rather a very powerful phaser array of diamond focused phaser energy which allows the phaser the power of a Phaser 4. These are the only ships large enough to mount this system and it should not be mounted on other style ships as the stress would turn a smaller less dense hull into scrap-iron.

(R1.?) Federation Sabre-class Heavy Battlecruiser: This is a command ship built to replace the Patton class as a squadron leader. It is similar to the Excelsior Class with quantums and two megaphasers. The design was found to opperate better either in pairs or on their own as border patrol ships.

(R1.?) Federation Norway-class Battle Carrier: The Norway was created as a carrier for the new Wraith class fighter. As with all Battle Carrier classes preceding it, it is capable of following its fighter squadron into the fray to provide cover and a close haven for damaged units. Capable of maintaining a high battle-speed and also providing EW support to its fighters.

SSD (in BMP format) available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Typhoon-class Battle Cruiser (Y212): The Typhoon was created as a rugged command ship for the new fleets coming out of the war weary Alliance. They were based on a combination of the excellent Independence secondary hull and a redesigned Excelsior class primary hull. The design gave the ship tremendous firepower and a large hull capable of sustaining battle damage from all but the largest Andromedan ships.

SSD (in JPEG format) available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Excelsior-class Command Cruiser: This is the main Flagship seen on the border patrols and in non-heavy base assaults. This ship is far less powerful than the Ambassador but it should be noted that it was not designed to ever operate alone and was designed to lead a fleet of warships into battle. This ship is powerful, and can stand in a firefight but, it is more defensive than offensive in nature though that role is only half of its duty. Would almost always be accompanied by 2xDefiants and 2xKorolevs. SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Independence-class Heavy Cruiser: After the RTN Dampning System became active, Star Fleet became concerned that the only ships that were capable of exploration were either too large to risk being off by themselves during a time of war, or too small to adequately defend themslves and hold an area of space. What was needed was a new Constitution Class vessel to explore and fight if need-be. The result of this concern was the Independence Class Heavy Cruiser. The Cruiser was well armed with quantum torpedoes and a large phaser array and had excellent lab concentration as well. This ship became the mainstay of the fleet by Y219, with the Korolev falling into the more appropriate role of assault support ships. Between Y210 and Y220 more than 40 of these ships were built.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Patton-class Medium Assault Cruiser: This ship is an assault cruiser designed as a patrol craft (The cloaking device made this a deadly border guard) and a squadron leader. A squadron of 1xPatton, 2xKorolev, 2x Defiant, and 2x Intrepid MK I would be a common sight. This ship commonly led base busting assignments when an Excelsior was not available.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation MacArthur-class Carrier (CVJ): The MacArthurs are named after the Big Mac which was destroyed over Orion by a swarm of Andro ships which slipped past the detection grid. While this did allow for the perfection of the RTN-Dampening field, her loss is still felt today. In memory these assault carriers named after her. The odd firing arcs are to keep ships from getting to bold to quickly. When first combat tested, a Mac took out a Mamba that thought it was in a SAFE kill-zone arc. The Macs carry 12 F\A-117 stealth fighters. The standard escort is 2x Defiants, and 6x Amy Class Runabouts.

(R1.?) Federation Korolev-class Assault Cruiser (CAJ): This ship formed half of the main fleet body, the other half being made up by the Defiant. A well rounded ship with a hell of a Photon punch. It lacks fire to the rear but makes up for it with speed and manuverability.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Kilo-class Light Cruiser (CL-K) (Y211): As war progressed and started to wane it was decided that the fleet was sorely lacking in mid-size cruisers, the Korolev beginning to be phased out of service and actually considered old. It was not equipped with labs as it was a war ship, but it did have the standard issue probe launcher giving some exploring potential. The unique phaser setup allowed for a better broadside phaser shot than most Federation ships were capable of at the time. SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Defiant-class Assault Destroyer (DDJ): The Defiant is an excellent ship. It does not suffer from shock like its prototype did because of a denser hull and a redesigned warp engine. The combination of the cloak, quantum torps, and proton pulse emmitters makes this ship a lethal apponent. However, when reloading, it is VERY slow under cloak. Often a border patrol ship, also opperates as escort for Capital ships and supports base assaults. The one drawback is in the shield Generators. The hull simply couldn't take any more than two. A Defiant-class ship must rely on speed, evasion, and stealth to get close to its victims.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Intrepid-class Frigate: The Intrepid MK I is the standard version of the Federation Frigate. It packs quite a punch but is very slow to rearm all its weapons. It usually must start to rearm one at a time. It is the standard base hunter as it can find bases with its sensor channels, make a short stand if necessery,(possibly destroy a surprised SAT base) and make a run for cover when things get too hot.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Intrepid-class Rescue Ship: The Intrepid MK II is the rescue ship of the fleet. Capable of beaming 400 people off of a dying ship or out of harms way, this ship usually follows a fleet while under cloak and flies in if needed. Also performs search missions for stranded personal and more refugees coming into Federation territory.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Guardian-class Escort Frigate (Y213): After the Andromedans increased their assaults into Federation space and were using more and more of their POD fighters, a heavier escort was needed. The Guardian is an excellent escort but was slow to make. A loss of the ship is actually twice as expensive as its standard BPV.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Centurian-class Escort Frigate (Y211): As the Norway was nearing the production phase, the escort designed to protect it came in to service. It was so successful in the early test phases that it became the standard escort for all the heavy class ships in addition to the Norway.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Griffin-class Frigate (Y200): The Intrepid was finally pushed into the role of a full time scout and the Griffin took its place. It was smaller, not as well armed, but it was inexpensive to produce and filled the role of a small, versatile fleet ship.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Amy-class Runabout: Instead of developing an actuall PF. The Federation designed a Runabout Class starship. The crews are all voluteer and the ships are christened a woman's name, usually the sweetheart of the ships Captain. These are fully functional Starships in everyway, except that they are size class 5. These ships are used for Shadow bases, carrier escorts, secret missions, patrol missions and anything else a standard size warship would do. They are modular in nature and would carry the module appropriate to its mission.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Federation Shadow Base: The Shadow base is the reason why the Federation is still in existence. In about Y190, the scientist, Fredrich Knnel of Alpha-Centauri discovered that low level barion particles spread over all subspace levels similtaniously, disrupted the RTN function. It is still questionable how he achieved this info but what the hell, it works. The Shadow base has a built in 10 ECM which cannot be removed, blinded or lowered in any way, and it does NOT count towords the total able to be used by the base. The base can power, 6 ECM and power one sensor Channel for a maximum of 22 points of ECM total. These bases are painted matte black and are very difficult to find even if you ARE looking for one. It has a compliment of 6 F\A-117's and 6 Amy Class Runabouts. There are two in every hex that the Federation controls on the F&E map. There is one other base in every hex with a planet in it in an addition to the 2 standered base. These bases are used as part of the Stratigic Movement Chain(Thus Fed Ships can get to every controled hex during Stratigic Movement.)

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Andromedan Sector Base (SEB-A / SEB-B): The Sector Base, Version-A is used in construction of new ships inside the galaxy. It's three bays can construct size class three Motherships. Version-B has a single large bay capable of constructing size class two motherships. The new Andro Panels are powered at base level, as seen on SSD, but operate at increased levels (10 points per box), with no leak point, except with disrupters.

Violator BB's, Juggernaut BB's, and Armagedon BB's can only be built at the Desecrator SB, of which only one was ever built.

SSD available on-line at John Kim's website.

(R1.?) Andromedan Armaggeddon Battleship (ARM): The biggest, and most powerful ship to ever enter combat, this ship without its Sat Ships would decimate a standard fleet of Warships.

SSD to be available on-line at John Kim's website.
