Module K (Fast Patrol Ships)
This introduces Fast Patrol Ships (or PF's) to the SFB universe. These are tiny ships (Move Cost 1/5) which come in squadrons of six, developed during the General War by the Lyrans but quickly copied by all races except the Federation. In play, PF's are fast, constantly travelling at speed 30 due to Warp Packs which give them a total of 12 Warp when they only need 6 to go speed 30. The packs make them somewhat more fragile -- but only for warp hits after shields (i.e. not nearly as vulnerable as fighters with warp packs). Like fighters, PF's are towed into battle by PF Tenders (PFT's) which, and aid them with Special Sensors and can repair damage.
This supplement describes PF's for all the races, including `conjectural' PF's for the Federation, even though none were built in the official timeline. PF variants include Leaders and Scouts - each squadron of 6 generally has 1 Leader PF and one Scout PF. Plus there are Cargo PF's, Mine Warfare PF's, etc. There are also Interceptors for every race: these are lighter precursors to PF's.
The SSD book includes PF tender ships for the Federation, Klingon, Romulans, and Kzinti. To get PF tenders for other races, you should turn to the R-series.
Module K includes 64 pages of new rules, a 64-page SSD book, and three countersheets. It includes 9 scenarios, a PF campaign, and a new space monster: Banshees!
