(FDTW1.0) NEW DRONE RULES |
Revision: January 15, 1999
Designed by Todd Warnken
These modifications can only be bought for Kzinti, Klingon, WYN,
and Federation ships. The following cartels can also purchase them:
Daven, Hamilcar, Lion, and Cluster.

THE EXOCET DRONE |
This drone takes up four spaces, takes 12 points to destroy, and will
inflict 50 points of damage on its target. The speed is 32
(automatically) and endurance is 5 turns. The BPV cost is eight
points, which includes removing four type-I slow drones from the
rack. The only allowable modifications are: double endurance (1
point), ATG (1 point), and external armor (1 point per half-space). A
fully modified Exocet would cost 14 points, take 20 points to destroy,
and move at a speed of 20. Note to salivating players: one measly
little ADD will kill this big bad drone.
This drone is considered limited availability. Size class five units
cannot carry Exocet drones; size class 4 cannot except for drone
frigates (Kzinti DF, Klingon F5D, Fed FFD). A C7 with four B-racks
and triple reloads can only have two Exocet drones (24 spaces in the
racks plus 72 reloads equals 96 times 10% is 9.6, and two Exocet
drones equals 8 spaces).
TO fire the Exocet drone the rack must be temporarily modified to
handle the large drone. This package takes two turns to install or
de-install. The drone rack may not be loaded while this is being
done. If this package is in place, normal drones cannot be launched
or loaded.
Exocet drones cannot be used in scatter-packs.

THE TYPE-Q ADVANCED MULTI-PURPOSE DRONE RACK |
This handy little gadget holds six spaces of drones just like a
B-rack. It has three firing modes: (1) two type-I or type-VI drones a
turn like a C-rack, (2) four type-VI drones a turn like an E-rack, or
(3) one ADD per impulse like a G-rack. Only one of these modes can be
used per turn. This can be decided when the drone is first used. The
advanced Q-rack costs 8 points.

THE HARM DRONE MODULE |
This is a special module that homes in on the sensor apparatus of the
target ship. When it reaches the target hex it explodes near the
sensor dish, reducing the sensor rating of the ship (see chart
below). The target ship must have active fire control for this to
function: if not, the drone loses tracking. The drone is equipped
with a form of ATG. The module takes two spaces and costs ten
points.
The die roll (see chart) is modified by EW. The effects last for
eight impulses and begin to wear off. On the ninth impulse the sensor
rating increases by one, and every four impulse thereafter it
increases by one until the ship is at its maximum sensor rating.
