(IP9.0) Shroud Space

Shroud space is an area of space with a form of radiation that blocks scanners.

(IP9.1) GENERAL INFORMATION

(IP9.11) Shroud space does not move.

(IP9.12) Shroud space cannot be damaged, destroyed, tractored, displaced, placed into stasis, or otherwise affected except as allowed in these rules.

(IP9.13) Web cannot be laid or cast within shroud space.

(IP9.14) Shroud space does not affect terrain, bases, or other stabilized points in space except as allowed in these rules.

(IP9.15) Shroud space may be 10-900+ hexes in diameter.

(IP9.16) Shroud space may be combined with other terrain.

(IP9.17) Units within shroud space may use ECCM normally.

(IP9.2) EFFECTS OF SHROUD SPACE

(IP9.21) Units firing direct fire weapons into or through shroud space add 1 to the range for each hex of shroud space between the target and the firing unit. Include the target and firing units hex if either is in shroud space (both if both are in the shroud space).

(IP9.22) The (IP9.21) effect is also used to determine if a unit is within the maximum firing range for seeking weapons.

(IP9.23) The affects of a shroud space cannot be voided.

(IP9.24) Units within a shroud space do not have to shut down fire control to gain the (IP9.21) and (IP9.22) effects. They can maintain active fire control and a lock-on.

(IP9.25) The effects of shroud space are applied to all units within the cloud and to any units firing at units within the cloud.

(IP9.26) Shroud space effects the fire of all units (including monsters).

(IP9.27) Cloaking devices will work in shroud space. The (IP9.21) effect is simply added to the range for all formulas and all fire.

(IP9.3) LIMITATIONS

(IP9.31) All shroud space effects are based on the (IP9.21) and (IP9.22) effects except as listed in these rules.

(IP9.32) Temporal Elevators do not function within shroud space.

(IP9.33) Units cannot transfer control of seeking weapons to another unit while the unit or seeking weapon is in shroud space. Control of self-guiding seeking weapons can be transferred to the weapon, but not to another unit.

(IP9.34) Units cannot lend or receive lent EW in shroud space.
