SFB Miniatures
There are a number of miniature figures which can be used for SFB.
The larger miniatures require a different scale map -- you can use the
standard rules with oversized megahex maps, or eliminate use of hexes
and use the earlier edition miniatures rules. The Elite line of
miniatures can be used on the standard SFB map. I would recommend
Andrew Penman's Page to see some examples of SFB miniatures.
Amarillo Design Bureau is currently (Spring 2001) producing
miniatures for use with SFB. There are also many previous lines of
miniatures which may be available: including those by Task Force
Games and Gamescience.

STAR FLEET 2400 (Amarillo Design Bureau)
This is the latest line of miniatures from ADB, which started
release in 2000. It is a

Elite Miniatures (Task Force Games)
This was a line of smaller metal figures which were scaled to
fit on the standard 5/8'' map, although obviously they don't
stack. There is some loss of detail compared to the main SFB
miniature lines.

Maps
The old official product H1: MegaHex is currently out
of print and hard to acquire. However, a new large-scale map
product is coming out soon (or may be out) from ADB. Check their
website for details. Another alternative for the large hex map
is the StarScape Map from GeoHex. For details on this, see the
GeoHex homepage.
-
Rules Section W: Miniatures (Agents of Gaming)
For $2, this covers the out-of-print rules for non-hex-map
miniature play. It includes a set of light card-stock wheels for
different turn modes. Information on this and other packs
is available on the
AoG page.
Painting
For more on painting miniatures,
Captain's Log #17
had a feature on miniatures and painting them.
Also, you can check out some sites on the web for Star Trek models.
For samples, see the
GriffWorks Shipyard site.
