SFB Play Aids

These are paper charts and play aids for SFB. Software is restricted due to copyright problems: see my page on software for details, and unofficial efforts to bridge this gap. I now break my game aids down into categories as follows:

Rules Aids

Table of Contents by John Kim
The complete rules from section A to P: including pages length, what product it is in, and whether it is used in the tournament. This doesn't include Module C4 or Omega.

Rules Checklist ... by John Kim
This is a list of all the (Advanced), (Commander's), and (Optional) rules. You can then quickly fill this out to agree what rules are being used in a game or campaign.

Master Scenario List ... by Nand
General, Historical, Captain's Log, and Monsters/Campaigns,
A complete list of scenarios including the product where they are found.

Cloak Reference Chart (GIF) ... by Steven Rushing <orkand17@NCHRTA.EM.CDC.GOV>
This contains a chart which allows you to reference range to cloaked ship and speed of cloaked ship and gives you the basic lock on roll, sans EW shift. Also contains a list of voiding events and of things disallowed while cloaked.

Tactical Intelligence Chart (HTML)
A quick sheet with ranges and information. Also available in an alternate format and for the Early Years.

Tournament Rules Poster by Les Leblanc ( Corel, RTF, or HTML)
This includes a complete listing of rules used and not used in the tournament, plus a list of oft-forgotten (or never-learned) rules.

Charts

Misc. Energy Allocations Forms: in HTML, GIF, and text.
Thanks to Craig Limber for the GIF form.

Impulse Movement Chart and alternate format
The basic 32-impulse chart for reference and printing. The alternate format lists the impulse numbers with each speed.

Damage Allocation Chart (HTML)
The chart from (D4.21), put in HTML for easy loading and printing. It includes Annex #7D and #7E.

Average Range-to-Damage Table: by John Kim ( PostScript, LaTeX, or HTML)
This is a chart which gives average damage for all direct-fire weapons as a function of range. It is a very useful tactical, letting you directly compare how different weapons drop off with range.

Average Range-to-Damage Table with EW: by Terry Hewitt and John Kim
This is a chart which gives average damage for all direct-fire weapons as a function of range, for +0/+1/+2 EW shifts.

Declaration of Action Sheet by Les Leblanc ( Corel, RTF, or HTML)
This is a simple sheet where you can write down declared actions each impulse, forming a permanent record while also allowing simultaneously revealing of actions.

Speeding Up Movement by Les Leblanc ( Corel, RTF, or HTML)
This is really a tactics article on some basic maneuvers of how to combine sideslips with turns. However, it is sufficiently concise and with diagrams to be considered a potential play aid.

Chance to hit on X Internals by Tom Carroll
This is a table showing the chance of getting a specific hit for a given number of internals.

Combined Klingon Special Arcs Diagram by Tom Carroll
This shows in one diagram the arcs for left and right wing, plus special FX phasers on the Klingon D7 series ships. It includes a specific hexmap background.

Firing Arc Diagrams by Carl Spain
These are rough diagrams for all of the arcs. They do not include a hexmap background, so these are more as reminders than as detailed references.

Master Ship Charts (HTML)
These are the Master Ship Charts for all races, formatted in HTML. This version adds PF and fighter data with each race, plus adds which product the ship appears in. This allows you to easily update or add to the charts to incorporate new units and products.

Ship Class Comparison Tables (HTML)
These compare the vital statistics of the various ship classes: phasers, power, internals, turn mode, etc. See how Federation versus Klingon versus Romulan destroyers match up, and so forth.

Master Ship Timeline (Text) ... by Stephan Fassman
A text list of all ships for all races sorted by year.

Pre-Calculated Fleet BPV's ... by Jasper Fkaj
Battle Groups and Andromedan Groups (Text) ... by Stephan Fassman
These are pre-calculated total BPV of groups of units, including the cost of fighters and such.

Quick Set-Up Conditions by Les Leblanc ( Corel, RTF, or HTML)
This is a set of random tables for setting up a scenario, including random race, random time period, and random ship size.

Tournament Aids

Tournament Cruiser Comparison Table
This lines up the various cruisers to show how they compare on internals, shields, weapons, power, etc.

Tournament Sequence of Play
This is a shortened version of the Sequence of Play with only items used in the official tournament.

TC Damage Charts by Jim "Vandal" Hart and Greg "Midnite" Bradburn
This shows the expected damage of various types against each of the tournament cruisers.

Andromedan Krait TC Fact Sheet ... by James McDow, <james.mcdow@verizon.net>
This is a reference sheet for damage on the panels of the Andromedan Krait Tournament Cruiser.

Maps

These are a series of image files of SFB maps. The smaller map templates (originally designed by myself, John Kim) is ideal for PBEM because of the small file size: 30-40K, although it doesn't look as good printed. The latter (by Bradley Upson) are massive to download, but will presumably print more neatly.

PBEM Maps by John Kim: (30K-40K)
Blank Map
Map for Game A028 (D7 vs. Tholian CWH)
Map for Game H207 (ISC vs. Shark Tourney)
Map for a Station Assault Scenario (plus alternate)
Map for Game F002 (SG50 Black Hole Mania) from Mark D. Hall

Large Tourney Maps by Bradley Upson:
ZIP File (150K) with two BMP maps (Color/Greyscale)
Color: GIF (277K), JPEG (565K), BMP (1.94Meg)
Greyscale: GIF (374K), JPEG (560K), BMP (1.94Meg)

Death Scenario Maps by Les Leblanc ( zipped file)
Silly Solar Derby by Les Leblanc ( zipped file)
Orbits by Les Leblanc ( zipped file)
